The Princess Di’airies

‘Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.‘ – Diana, Princess of Wales

Remembering Lady Diana, the ‘queen of the people’s hearts’ on the 20th anniversary of her passing today. She was the opposite of everything royals represented. This could be one of the reasons why we were all so fascinated with her, and by ‘we’ I mean most of Europe and potentially many Third World Countries where her Foundations were heavily involved in helping out in crises. After Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris two decades ago, she was mourned as a national hero. Besides being widely celebrated for her Philanthropy, Warmth, and Glamour throughout the 1990s, she also had a reputation of not fitting the ‘Princess- Mold’. She once said: I don’t go by the rule book… I lead from the heart, not the head.

This also presented itself in her Fashion Choices. As a Princess, she was spotted wearing Trousers more than any other Princess had before. She made bold choices which eventually resulted in her going from a shy girl to a global Fashion Icon. For those old enough to remember, she is considered a symbol. She gave frank interviews about her personal life, appeared alongside AIDS victims at a time when they were stigmatized. Lady Di modernized the stuffy image of the British monarchy. I remember my cousin was super obsessed with her. Matter of fact, we would always threaten her with ‘something is going to happen to her, if you don’t let us use/take/have this’.  Her room was plastered with Lady Di posters, mind you these were all posters you’d find in little girly magazines. There was no more wall to show anything other than Lady Diana in her room. (shortly after they were split up between Diana and Britney Spears)

Over the years, I have done more research about Diana and studied her amazing fashion moments. She remains a cultural touchstone, which is why I have decided to share her greatest fashion statements, which inspire me to this day and will live on forever.

Hope you guys like these and find some inspo (esp for Fall17). Thanks to my sister for continuously pushing me to dedicate a blogpost to Lady Diana. Yes, my whole family has a slight obsession 😉
